“Behind the Walls” Podcast Episode Exposes Dangerous Prison Conditions & Taxpayer Neglect in Delaware
New Castle, DE – Voices for Justice Inc., a Delaware-based civil and human rights organization, has released a powerful new episode of its Behind the Walls podcast, titled “Where Your Tax Dollars Go to Die,” shedding light on inhumane conditions inside Delaware correctional facilities and calling out the lack of accountability from public officials.
The investigative episode highlights shocking findings from James T. Vaughn Correctional Center and Howard R. Young Correctional Facility, including:
- Uncontrolled mold infestations
- Prolonged water leaks
- Severe heat conditions without proper climate control
- Denial of medical accommodations
- Systematic retaliation against inmates and whistleblowers
We made attempts to contact the Department of Justice, Division of Human and Civil Rights, and elected leaders such as Senator Jack Walsh and Representative Larry Lambert, Voices for Justice has received no official response— as of yet.
“This is not just about prison conditions,” said Tomilynn Shorter, Vice President of Voices for Justice Inc. “This is about where your tax dollars are going—into the pockets of public officials and institutions that are failing the people they are paid to serve.”
The organization is now publicly calling on Delaware state officials to meet and collaborate on real, actionable reform. “We’re not just bringing problems—we’re bringing solutions,” said Shorter. “But we need leadership that’s willing to act.”
The episode is available on all major podcast platforms. Listeners are encouraged to tune in, share, and hold their representatives accountable.
